An Italian Surprise

This nice album was send to me by one of the singers of the band Staccionata!
Staccionata is a band from Roma, Italy. This band plays a combination of Stoner Doom, Hardcore, Kraut Rock and Post-something. (As discribed by this singer.)
The album Ecco sounds very psychedelic and experimental, due to the electronic effects and percussion they are using. The result is great. These six guys surprise with seven original tracks. The guitars sound mostly raw, but sometimes subdued. Both singers do their performance properly.
If you ever want to hear something totally different, then you can try this album. It deserves a listen anyway! Enjoy!

Two Years Of Insanity!

This blog is two years existing this very day. And it's still my pleasure posting music here! In these two years I've posted a lot of music and I like to thank the bands who have shared their music. I also like to thank the readers of this blog, especially the ones who has bothered to give a comment!
To celebrate this anniversary, I like to offer you a Suma album. (Just as last year!)
This is the re-released debut album from the Stoner Doom masters from Malmö, Sweden. In my idea Suma was very influenced by Electric Wizard in the time that Suma has recorded this album. But you can also hear bits and pieces that has lead to the development of their very own sound. Let The Churches Burn will always be my favorite Suma album, but this album is also great to listen! (As all other Suma stuff is!) Enjoy!

Radio Garage

This energetic beauty was shared with me by the band Radio Garage!
Radio Garage is a band from Lima, Peru. This band plays a combination of Rock 'n' Roll, Punk, Metal and Hard Rock. Their full-length debut album kicks ass! Radio Garage offers you eight great songs that will make your body move or at least it lets your head bang! You can also download their EP from 2005 on their Blogspot. Enjoy!

5 years after forming, and after lineup changes Garage Radio released their debut, new and old tracks reworked with a new sound and attitude as always, rock n 'roll to pure machine in 8 songs where Fernando Acosta (Under ) Kaminoisee (guitar), Oscar Soto (drums) and Ricardo Barandiaran (guitar, vocals) shed more visceral influences, from rock n 'roll dirty "Sinner" to obscure passages of the metal in "Servant." Garage Radio was formed in 2005 by Acosta and Barandiaran, who after going through various experiences in hardcore and punk bands, they decided to combine forces with old friends, Alfonso Chacon on drums (Kronocidio, Berserker, Ching Dynasty) and Coco Maple guitar (Kronocidio, Concrete) and began playing in local band circuit, they release a 4 song EP via Deskicia discs that get good reviews, then after exhausting tour concerts bars and holes appear in the compilation of web rockperu . org with two new songs after this, and many events, the band goes into a brief recess, which Alfonso and Coco out of the band to make way for the next stage with Kaminoisee (Macondo, God boredom, The Air ) and Oscar (Helldrunk) where the road takes you started recording the eponymous album on par with a string of gigs where the band earned the respect of the public and other bands, while the disc even finished editing, a new issue arises subsequent sessions to the compilation of Berraco Records label, the song "xdrmmr / a being without a name" is part of the horizon where he leads the group not to forget the raw and wild rock that is his trademark.

Hart Gore

I should be ashamed, because until a few days ago I never heard of this band.
Gore was a band from Venlo, Netherlands. This band played a sort of instrumental noise. Hart Gore was their debut album released in 1986. This album is an absolute masterpiece. This album contains songs that are both simple and attractive. Hart Gore is recently re-released by Southern Lord Records. Why I ever have overlooked this album will always be a unanswered question! Enjoy!

Gore were a Dutch rock band formed in 1985, characterized as instrumental noise rock, who released six studio albums, one live album, and had two compilation appearances between 1986 and 1997. One of the band's studio albums was released on the Megadisc label. They split up in 1996.
The band's initial line was Pieter De Sury (guitar, previously played in Venlo-based band Disgust), Martin Van Cleef (bass, also from Disgust) and Danny Arnold Lommen (drums, previously played guitar in Venlo-based band Pandemonium). With this line-up, the band's concept was developed and the music heard on the Hart Gore LP was written. After a short period of time, Van Cleef left the band and Rob Frey (aka Marij Hel) took over on bass.
With the line-up of Pieter De Sury, Rob Frey and Danny Arnold, the band began playing live locally. In march 1986, they entered the studio to record their first LP, entitled Hart Gore. After Hart Gore and the follow-up, Mean Man's Dream, they then released a live album featuring Gore on one side and Henry Rollins on the other. In 1988, the band played at the New Music Seminar in New York, and signed to the large Megadisc label, releasing the double album Wrede/The Cruel Peace in 1988, the album co-produced by Steve Albini. The lack of commercial success led the band to split up.
Frey reformed the band in 1991 with new musicians (guitarist Johan Van Reede and drummer Bardo Maria), and released the double-CD album Lifelong Deadline. The following year they again performed at the New Music Seminar in New York, playing at The Knitting Factory.
In January 1994, Gore toured Europe in support of the CD reissues of Hart Gore and Mean Man's Dream on Messback Music CD.
Gore released their final album, Mest/694'3 in February 1997 with the line-up from Lifelong Deadline intact.
A final Gore CD, entitled Slow-Death, was included free in an issue of 'Gonzo Circus' magazine late in 1997. It contained a mixture of alternate/unreleased and live versions of songs from Lifelong Deadline and Mest/694'3.
Rob Frey went on to play guitar in the band De Nieuwe Blijdschap.
Gore received considerable airplay from BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel, and recorded three sessions for his radio show between 1987 and 1991, amounting to a lot of airtime given the length of their tracks.

Heliogabalus

Thanks to Bruno of the band Rorcal for sharing this album!
Rorcal is a Doom/Drone band from Switzerland. Heliogabalus is their fifth release and this album contains just one track, but this masterpiece takes only seventy minutes! This track is a monolithic piece illustrating the decadence of the Roman Emperor, Heliogabalus.
The music of Rorcal is slow, heavy and depressive. You have to be in the mood to listen to this. This is not music for soft souls. Enjoy!

RORCAL sees the light in Geneva (Switzerland) in 2006.

After four efforts between 2007 and 2008 and about fifty shows through Europe, the band is now ready to release its fifth block : HELIOGABALUS.

This one marks a radical change in the band's music. Obsessively dark and heavy, this 70 minutes monolithic piece sees RORCAL sink deeper into the abysses of sound.

Somewhere between Drone and Doom, let yourself go into the bowels of the whale.

Integrity Technology And Service

The first time I encountered Gas Huffer was on a split single with Mudhoney. Gas Huffer is a foursome from the state of Washington, U.S.A. This band plays a nice combination of Garage, Punk and Rock-a-Billy. Gas Huffer somehow reminds me of The Cramps. Integrity Technology And Service is their second album and it contains thirteen energetic tracks. Gas Huffer played their last show in 2006. Enjoy!

Gas Huffer don't change one darn thing on its second album -- and that's perfectly fine. In fact, it's great! Integrity, Technology & Service is again produced by Jack Endino, the emphasis once more on crazy, entertaining, classic, punky raunch and roll moving at 200 mph. One of the band's all time great songs is here, "Do the Brutus." Their own version of a hot new dance trend starts with a brisk, killer bassline from Don Blackstone and then makes it from there -- as Wright chants, "throw back your head like you're gonna sneeze!/Do the Brutus, it's quite a hootus!" It looks like Wright himself is pulling off that move on the inside photo, for that matter. As on other releases, many song titles convey the atmosphere here better than other words could: "Overworked Folk Hero Guy," "Remove the Shoe," "Sandfleas," "Where Wolfmen Lurk." Wright, as ever, is a perfect frontman for the whole shebang, with plenty of the same immediate rough charisma as his fellow appreciator of hot grooves and sideburns, John Reis of Rocket From the Crypt. Price smokes down all around him with both his economic solos and instantly memorable riffs, while Blackstone and Newton's rhythm section burns rubber several times over. Among the many pure delights are "The Piano Movers," a wry tale of working grunts and a day of disasters on the job, and "Bomb Squad," a similar tale of a slightly more dangerous line of employment with a wonderful "hit the deck, she's going to blow!" backing shout. The "I.T.S. Credo" sums up the appeal of the whole album, as Wright sings on top of another fast-paced garage jump-up, "it's the credo we abide by every single day." Major points as well for the gas station-inspired uniforms on the back cover, years before that became an overdone trend used by unappealing trendhoppers.

Emotionally Driven Disturbulence

Emotionally Driven Disturbulence is the second album by the U.K. based band Obiat. This quartet plays Stoner Rock mixed with Psychedelics, Metal and Doom. According to their MySpace this band is influenced by the following: 70s CLASSIC ROCK, EXPERIMENTAL, DOOM, METAL, MINIMAL, POST ROCK, AMBIENT, PSYCHEDELIC, STONER... Acrimony, Aerosmith, Alice in chains, Tori Amos, Anathema, Anthrax, A Perfect Circle, Syd Barrett, Barbaro, the Beatles, Black Sabbath, Blind Melon, Tommy Bolin, Jeff Buckley, Candiria, Keith Caputo, Carcass, Ray Charles, Corrosion Of Confirmity, Comes with the fall, the Cult, Danzig, Dead Can Dance, Dead Soul Tibe, Death, Deep Purple, The Doors, Down, Electric Wizard, Brian Eno, Eyehategod, Faith No More, Fantomas, Galloping Coroners(VHK), the Gathering, Vincent Gallo, Dave Gilmour, Godspeed You Black Emperor, 1st wave of Grunge, P J Harvey, Jimi Hendrix, Helmet, Hermano, Iron Butterfly,Jan Jelinek, Jane's Addiction, Jethro Tull, Janis Joplin, Judas Priest, Kammerflimmer Kollektief, King Crimson, Kingston Wall(fi), Kobong, Kyuss, Led Zeppelin, Bill Lazwel, LGT(hu), Life Of Agony, The Melvins, Monster Magnet, Mother Love Bone, Mr. Bungle, My Dying Bride, Neurosis, Nebula, Obituary, Ozzy, Opeth, Pearl Jam(early), Pentagram, Paradise Lost, Pink Floyd, Piramis(hu), P Mobil(hu), Primus, Psychotic Waltz, Queen, Queens Of The Stone Age, Rainbow, Revelation, RHCP(early), The Rolling Stones, Rush, Slayer, Sleep, Slint, Slo Burn, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, St Vitus, Temple of the dog, The For Carnation, Thin Lizzy, Three Fish, Tool, Triosk, Tortoise, Trapeze, Tribe after Tribe, Tribe of Gypsies, Trouble, Uriah Heep(Byron era), Vagtazo Valottkemek, Van der graf Generator, Frank Zappa, ZZ Top and other coloured, exotic and horroristic substances...
This extensive list gives you a slight idea of what Obiat is about. Emotionally Driven Disturbulence is a very good album with great tracks. Obiat just released their third album called Eye Tree Pi at Small Stone. Enjoy!

Pan-cultural, pie-eyed, psychedelic post-doom pill-shovelers Obiat have one of the thorniest, twistiest family trees ever. One dude’s from Italy, another’s from Hungary, a third is from Poland, and the fourth guy, Neil…well, he’s the British one, naturally. Obiat currently call the UK their home, but clearly, theirs is a global concern, and the music ably demonstrates that. A deep, disquieting headphone trip that drifts woozily from Middle-Eastern tone poems to crunching neo doom, serial killer frash, and no-helmet space prog, Obiat’s constantly shifting sound is like a sentient iPod that secretly plots to kill. while it lulls you into a bludgeon rock trance. The band formed in the late ’90s, in the Polish town of Szczecin. Guitarist Rafal Reutt is the founding member; originally a three-piece, the band developed their fluid approach to heavy rock in Poland, but it wasn’t until Reutt moved to London and began searching for a solid line-up that he chanced upon the ‘voice’ of Obiat – Hungarian singer Laszlo Pallagi. The two Eastern Europeans bonded culturally and musically, and Obiat’s acid-stuffed calliope ride to oblivion began in earnest. The band has so far released three albums, each one top heavy with guest-musicians, weird instrumentation (a hurdy-gurdy?), and a wild sense of experimentation. Their latest, Eye Tree Pi (Small Stone), is perhaps their most cohesive, groove-oriented work yet. It’s still nuts, though. The album was produced and engineered by Chris Fielding (Napalm Death, Electric Wizard) and mixed by dop -rock super producer Billy Anderson (Melvins, High on Fire, Mr. Bungle). Given that sort of pedigree, it goes without saying that it will melt your brain into a puddle. Tribal and hypnotic and heavy as Sabbath... Obiat have been gigging all over Europe (where they originally from) Hungary, Poland.Italy, Germany, France, Netherland, Austria, Belgium... Double headlined with ELECTRIC WIZARD in France, Stoned Hand of Doom festival in Rome with Doomraiser + more in Italy, Belgium, Germany with EARTHRIDE (ex Spirit Caravan), Gates Of Slumber, Centurions Ghost-Doom Over Nuernberg fest, with TESTAMENT and MY DYING BRIDE and Korpiklani(Metalmania Fest in Budapest)....and more and of course all over the UK with , WITCHCRAFT-Sweden, ACID KING, A STORM OF LIGHT, NEBULA, PELICAN, THE ATOMIC BITCHWAX & 5IVE from Boston-USA, HAWKWIND's Nik Turner Space Unit,ORANGE GOBLIN, RAMESSES -former Electric Wizard), ESOTERIC, Suns of The Tundra TV appearance on BBC and Man and Motor (satellite): "Mad Count 3-4" Shows. Madcount 4. available on DVD with Obiat soundtrack as well. Singer Laz is also deeply involved in writing and recording for Peach /Suns of the Tundra(TOOL's Justin Chancellor previous band) albums along with fellow musicians like Simon Oakes, Andy Prestige (ANGEL WITCH, Winters, Cortizone). They also contributed some material for the 2nd album OBIAT:EMOTIONALLY DRIVEN DISTURBULeNCE(2005) as well as "EYE TREE PI" (2009). Guitarist Raf and bassist Alex also performed with deathcore band Justonefix as seen on stage with CULT OF LUNA, BLEEDING THROUGH, MARDUK, DISMEMBER, ZAO, Cataract and more...

Great French Post Metal

A couple of weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised by the Hate/Life sampler by the French label Throatruiner Records.
As We Draw is also a band at that label and this band is also present with an older track on the Hate/Life Sampler.
This is their new album and the result is fabulous! As We Draw plays some awesome experimental and progressive Post Metal. The singer sounds if he is really full of misery. The music sounds so atmospheric. This trio treats you on nine dejected tracks and they're all great! Let your spirit soar with this wonderful album! Enjoy!

Yeah, i'm not objective at all, but whatever! I'm the Throatruiner Records dude, i have already mail you some weeks ago about our Hate/Life compilation, and, following the free-download politic i'm trying to lead, i want to share my new release as much as possible. This is the first album of my good friends from AS WE DRAW, and when i hear it, i'm fucking proud to have one of the most promising post-metal band in my roster. They are only three, they're just in their twenty, they're just incredible.

Black Metal/Experimental/Noise/Industrial/Drone from Poland

This band is apparently looking for various platforms to promote their music. So they sended also a link to me.
Thaw is a Black Metal/Experimental/Noise/Industrial/Drone band from Poland. I can be brief about this one, because Black Metal is not really my thing. And Thaw sounds mainly Blackish. So I can not really say anything useful about it. But in what I can hear, Thaw sounds not bad at all. Enjoy!
