Early november I posted an article about the upcoming album Within The Witch by the New Zealand band Stone Angels with the singer Steven Bell of the band Second Gear Grind.

Well, here is that album! Within The Witch is an album with seven Sludge songs with Doom, Metal and Black influences. The music of Stone Angels is utterly heavy and rude. The riffs and rhythms are filthy and brutal.

The vocals and screams are fitting well in the sound and are very impressive. Steven Bell does show a total other side of himself compared with the work he has done with Second Gear Grind.

Within The Witch is an album that for sure will be appreciated by folks who are really into Heavy.

Forest Worship Black Doom From Santa Cruz

Thanks to the band Folivore for sharing their rehearsal demo!
Folivore is a foursome from Santa Cruz, California. (Or as they say Satan Cruz!) This band plays a combination of Black, Doom, Sludge and Stoner Metal. This is I guess their first recording. And as you can expect from a rehearsal, it sounds pretty lo-fi. Their music is very dark, brutal, heavy and intense. What I especially like is the voice of the female singer/screamer. Her voice is awesome and frightening! These grunts are damn great! I think there's a lot of potential for Folivore in the future! Enjoy and support this band!

Dark Sludge/Stoner Metal From Arizona

Drone Throne is a band from Arizona that plays some awesome Dark and Heavy music. This four-piece plays a combination of Sludge, Stoner Metal, Punk, Black and even Surf. Drone Throne claims to be influenced by the following: Rudimentary Peni, Dark Throne, Grief, Eyehategod, Sleep, Bad Brains, Dystopia, Cro Mags, Emperor, Raw Power, Nausea, etc. As you can see, this is a wide variety of styles. The result is this five track demo, that is full of heaviness. In 2009 Drone Throne has released a split album with the Arizona band Toad and it seems that there is soon new recording is coming.
