Desierto

The next contribution comes from the Peruvian band Sanat Kumara Band. This trio from Lima plays some nice Desert/Stoner Rock. The Desierto EP contains three songs and they're pretty decent. According to their Facebook page is Sanat Kumara Band inspired by the following bands and artists: Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Blue Cheer, Clifford Lee Burton, ZZ Top, Ghost, Electric Wizard, Colour Haze, Kenso, Drum Circus, Kyuss, Pentagram, Alabama Thunderpussy, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Misfits, Yes, Pink Floyd, Lemmy Kilmister, Saxon Shore, Pelican and Mono.
This list gives a good idea of what the band is about.
Sanat Kumara is a band that still has to grow. But the Desierto EP is nevertheless a nice starter by this new band. Enjoy!

Addicted To Chaos

This EP was sent to me by Hefestus Yorch of the band Gasmurder.
Gasmurder is a band from Lima, Peru and they play as they declare a combination of Death 'n' Roll, Thrash Metal, Hardcore and Stoner Metal. To me it sounds mainly as an aggressive and raw form of Metal! And I must admit these guys do that pretty well! It does remind me a lot of the Metal sound from the eighties. If you like that kind of Metal, make sure you give this a try! Enjoy!

GASMURDER born of previous experiences of its first members in hardcore bands, metal, punk, and rock n roll. After early changes of their original alignment, GASMURDER restart your way in the HARD ROCK influenced different aspects of it, to find a powerful sound. TONY currently composed on guitar, JAKE on guitar, EDUARDO on bass, DAVID on drums and HEFESTUS YORCH screams.

Radio Garage

This energetic beauty was shared with me by the band Radio Garage!
Radio Garage is a band from Lima, Peru. This band plays a combination of Rock 'n' Roll, Punk, Metal and Hard Rock. Their full-length debut album kicks ass! Radio Garage offers you eight great songs that will make your body move or at least it lets your head bang! You can also download their EP from 2005 on their Blogspot. Enjoy!

5 years after forming, and after lineup changes Garage Radio released their debut, new and old tracks reworked with a new sound and attitude as always, rock n 'roll to pure machine in 8 songs where Fernando Acosta (Under ) Kaminoisee (guitar), Oscar Soto (drums) and Ricardo Barandiaran (guitar, vocals) shed more visceral influences, from rock n 'roll dirty "Sinner" to obscure passages of the metal in "Servant." Garage Radio was formed in 2005 by Acosta and Barandiaran, who after going through various experiences in hardcore and punk bands, they decided to combine forces with old friends, Alfonso Chacon on drums (Kronocidio, Berserker, Ching Dynasty) and Coco Maple guitar (Kronocidio, Concrete) and began playing in local band circuit, they release a 4 song EP via Deskicia discs that get good reviews, then after exhausting tour concerts bars and holes appear in the compilation of web rockperu . org with two new songs after this, and many events, the band goes into a brief recess, which Alfonso and Coco out of the band to make way for the next stage with Kaminoisee (Macondo, God boredom, The Air ) and Oscar (Helldrunk) where the road takes you started recording the eponymous album on par with a string of gigs where the band earned the respect of the public and other bands, while the disc even finished editing, a new issue arises subsequent sessions to the compilation of Berraco Records label, the song "xdrmmr / a being without a name" is part of the horizon where he leads the group not to forget the raw and wild rock that is his trademark.

More True Amazement.

A big thanks again to Sadness for this contribution!
Last week I posted the second album of the Peruvian/Argentinian band TLÖN. This is their first album. It's an awesome album that sounds a bit like the second one. That means: A great combination of Stoner, Psychedelic Rock, 70's Hard Rock and Doom! And more of that strange voice!
If you listened to TLÖN II, then you know what to expect. If you don't, go listen both albums! Enjoy!

"TLÖN is a Peruvian/Argentine heavy rock band with touches of psychedelic music, similar in some ways to Tarkus. This band is formed by Walo Carrillo, drummer and founder of Tarkus, Los Holys, Telegraph Avenue. In fact, the album includes some unreleased songs composed around 1972 from the Tarkus period. TLÖN is Christian Van Lacke on guitars and voice, Marcos Coifman on bass (from Reino Ermitano), and Walo Carrillo on drums. They continue with the magic that Tarkus left behind in 1972."

True Amazement.

Thanks to Sadness for sending me this awesome album!
TLÖN is a Peruvian/Argentian band. This trio plays some music that goes far beyond your imagination. It's a combination of Stoner, Doom, Psychedelic Rock and 70's Hard Rock. The singer is really inimitable, I never heard someone sing like this guy. This album is filled with ten surprising songs and there all awesome. It makes me curious for the first album. I want to hear that one! For now: Enjoy II!

Amazing new album from South American masters of Doom and Psych Rock. Fantastic songs full of strong vocals and emotional feelings. This is a heavy trip down the road.... The latest studio effort from Peruvian/Argentinian TLÖN is not just a further release from the band but also transports the convincing creativity of the group. TLÖN do not play mere music - they create new dimensions of sound. So is the simple titled album TLÖN II a masterpiece of the very special kind that weaves Doom, Rock and Psych to mystical experience to melt your senses.

Burning Sea Of Green.

This is a real nice birthday present I've got yesterday!
Obskuria is a band with members from several countries. They play some very great Psychedelic music. On their first album Discovery Of Obskuria they played mostly covers in their own way. On the second album Burning Sea Of Green they play songs of their own, except for one cover: Black Magic by Slayer. Obskuria play this song in a very strange version, with the hypnotic singing of Murielle Stadelmann. I never heard a Slayer cover like this! Burning Sea Of Green contains 9 great songs and it goes from mellow to heavy! Obskuria has two singers who has diveded the songs. The last track is Burning Sea Of Green, a nearly 13 minute Psychedelic trip with Muriellle Stadelmann as your personal guide. Burning Sea Of Green is an album you don't want to miss. Enjoy!

"Obskuria is hungry for ultimate satisfaction; feat. members of La Ira De Dios and Dragonwyck, they're best described as burning-heavy-psychedelic tone poetry, the roots of those 'symphonic/orchestrated' poems go back to the early 19th century, when music was intended to inspire listeners and to consider images or moods, not to focus on following traditional patterns -- free form improvisation! All 9 songs, except a Slayer cover of 'Black Magic' (transformed into '60s garage-twist), were cut from instrumental one-take jams; no headphones and all performers incl. amps in one room to feel the unfiltered natural vibes of the magical float, to get inspired in marching to the eternal outer-space-plateau as ONE unit.. it's the culmination of violent but also floating rocksound with truly authentic hard-driven 70s fuzz/space guitar overkills and spheric Hammond Organ layers. Finally two fabulous guest singers (male/female) added super-catchy soulful, haunted and atmospheric vocals. The debut album Discovery Of Obskuria, got lots fabulous and creative reviews in 2008 for their mostly excessive long instrumental space-Kraut excursions -- NOW the 5 Obskurians speeded-up most of their studio-performance with the focus to get more steady hypnotic song orientated (die)-hard-rock-tunes; which ended after cutting them into 3,5 to 5 min format, except the 13 min title track, a multi-climax, which epically expresses thee 'farewell to the American dream ? drifting in the burning sea of green'! Obskuria is inspired by '70s Krautrock, Black Sabbath, Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, Brainticket, Joe Meek, Spaghetti Western and Slayer. This second album by the intercontinental quintet (Peru, US & Germany) may be seen as a soundtrack-concept-album to express in each song a different scene with an 'abundant' variety of raw energetic beauty plus revolutionary spirit. On low volume it feels like an easy listening album, turning it up it could cause unexpected mind-expansions leading into addiction not many 'modern' rock albums have the potential to bring new outstanding listening dimensions to the true music maniacs and addicts. Obskuria does! 'A new decade of purely emotional, euphoric rock'n'roll has begun to take you back to those days when music still was music!'"

The Anger Of God.

I'm back from my weekendtrip to Eindhoven and I survived My Dying Bride. They actually performed a great show.
Now something different: La Ira De Dios is a Psychedelic/Space/Stoner band from Peru. They made three records and in my opinion these two are the best of this band. The last album is called Cosmos Kaos Destruccion (released 2008) is different than the first two albums, some more Punkier.

The band was founded in 2001 by guitarist Chino Burga. Hailing from Lima/Peru they started as a trio first including bass player Alí and Tito Renteros (drums). Based on a psych/space origin LA IRA DE DIOS developed to a jam band with a heavy, raw and sometimes even violent attitude adding stoner, punk and krautrock elements to their sound. In 2002/2003 the first self-released album 'Hacia El Sol Rojo' was produced, re-issued by the german Nasoni Records label on compact disc and vinyl in 2005.

Some changes lead on to a new line-up in 2006 remaining Chino Burga as the only founding member. LA IRA DE DIOS produced the next album 'Archaeopterix', this time with Xtian Abugattas responsible for electronic effects. He became a steady member from now on accentuating the band's spacey elements.

On their 2006 tour in Germany they performed a gig on the Trip In Time festival. Initiated by the german World In Sound label an inventive collaboration with Tom Brehm (Dragonwyck) and several german musicians started immediately. The new project produced an album within some days under the moniker OBSKURIA provided with a concept which is typical for space rock.
