Here is an outstanding demo I've found at the Russian Stoner Forum.

From the Russian capital Moscow come a lot of great bands such as Stone Cold Boys, Cactus Jumper, Cosmonauts Day, Dirty Season and Stoner Train.

To this list of bands can be added the name Predicted. This four piece band plays some impressive Stoner Doom with Psychedelic, Sludge and Metal influences. Their demo called Demos From Witch House is decent sounding recording, considering that this is a brand new band.

This demo contains five awesome tracks that are asking for a sequel. And I'm looking forward to that next recording. Highly Recommended! Enjoy!

An Asean Doom Split

This split album was shared with me by Asad from the band Myosis. Thank you for that, Asad!
This split album is a collaboration of the bands Myosis and J. Both bands have each recorded three songs for this split album. The result is more than nice.
Myosis is a Stoner and Sludge influenced Doom Metal band from Karachi, Pakistan. Their music sounds nicely brutal and heavy. The guitar riffs are filthy as hell and the singer has a beautiful rotten voice.
From Singapore comes J. This is a by Sludge inspired Funeral Doom band. According to Facebook, J is influenced by the following bands: Esoteric, Skepticism, Colosseum, YOB, Sleep and Electric Wizard. This gives you an idea of what you can expect.
In short, this is a very great split album! Listen and judge for yourself! Enjoy!

Voodoo Mule is a band from Ljubljana, Slovenia. With this demo offers this trio some nice Stoner/Doom Metal tunes. This band claims to be inspired by bands as Melvins, Jimi Hendrix, Sleep, Kyuss and Electric Wizard. So this gives you a small idea of what Voodoo Mule is about. This demo contains three tracks that are pretty good, but the problem with demos is that the sound often is not as good. Nevertheless it is still a good demo. Voodoo Mule definitely can mean something in the future. Enjoy!

What we've got here is a demo of a band with the unpronounceable name Gniyrg Gnaarg. This Finnish/Spanish trio plays a vague combination of Stoner Rock, Doom Metal and Grunge. The result is splendid. Their debut demo called From Mother Sun sounds very nice. It contains four songs that are good for forty minutes of excellent music. The guitar sounds really heavy. The drums and bass do have a lingering and slow groove. The singer has a dark and mysterious voice that fits perfectly well with the music. This demo from Gniyrg Gnaarg tastes definitely for more! The idea of creating a stoner/doom band was sprung up in the minds of native Helsinkians Tommy and Leo in the early summer of 2008, probably at one of the many bars in Kallio, Helsinki. The band remained a brainchild of the two bassists (one of which had never touched a bass in his life) for over a year, until one night in early september 2009 when we found out that Inés, a Spaniard hwo had settled in Helsinki a few years earlier, wanted an excuse to reincarnate the drummer inside of her. A band was born.

Our music is a combination of stoner rock, doom metal and grunge, and therefore we define our music as "Dungeon".

After playing several gigs at clubs and a few small underground festivals, Gniyrg Gnaarg entered the studio in November 2010 to record their first demo. "From Mother Sun", recorded in November 2010 at the MD-studio in Helsinki, consists of four songs and clocks in at just over 40 minutes. The track list is:

3. Earth Fire (10:56)
4. Big Bang (9:14)

The music of Gniyrg Gnaarg has been heavily influenced by the likes of Black Sabbath (esp. Master of Reality), Kuyss, Electric Wizard, early Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Fu Manchu, Joy Division and several 60/70s hard rock/psychedelic bands.

Dopethrone

Electric Wizard is a Heavy Stoner/Doom/Metal band from Dorset, United Kingdom. This is one of the heaviest bands I ever heard. Next sunday I will see Electric Wizard for the first time and I look forward to that concert!

Dopethrone is the third album by Electric Wizard and in my opinion it's one of their best albums. It is an ultimate display of Heavy Doom. The slow parts are very intense. This music with this drive has a hypnotic effect on me. And I like that! Enjoy!

This album is a sludgy mess.

If you need technicality in your music, close the book on Electric Wizard (henceforth “EW”) and continue your search elsewhere.

EW’s most famous opus and third album is everything good musical output should not be. It’s noisy, messy, lazy, droning, at times incomprehensibly overdriven into the depths of monotony and back.

It chews at your brain and then smashes it in with a bludgeon.

And if you come out alive, you find yourself in a world overtaken with blazon psychedelia and drenched in heavy metal madness. It takes the stoner grooves of Kyuss and Queens of the Stoneage and straps them to slow, plodding Beelzebub Anthems of Doom that move along like an elephant at the gaze of a Gorgon. Et tu Brute?

The instrumentation is simple, the musical content even simpler. An average rock band lineup that employs all of its instruments for one simple purpose: to make the sound as low, dense and bleak as possible. Guitars are down-tuned so as to avoid clarity, the drums keeping a simple and affirmative beat, the vocals just a distorted cry over the madness of the instrumentals. Musicianship nonexistent.

The album begins with an intriguing voice sample, no doubt taken from an old 70s B-movie, saying “When you get into one of these groups, there’s only a couple ways you can get out. One is death, the other is mental institutions.” Comical, but somehow disturbing in how true it rings for this album. You might feel you’ve gone insane by the end of the sprawling Funeralopolis, ending its 8-minute duration with an intense jam with the vocals screaming out maniacally, distorted beyond comprehension, propelling the dirge into outer space.

Weird Tales is another highlight, an epic in many different parts, starting out with a typical doom jam and making its way into a droning, distorted bass-driven exposition slathered in feedback and building in intensity. An insane atonal lead shrieks out over the ominous instrumentals that speed up and slow down, making for the most dynamic piece on the album. Weird sounds emanate from underneath the muddy landscape. The sludgy instrumentals then slowly decay into a spacey drone section ala Boris.

Barbarian and I, the Witchfinder are the next to faux-mythology-inspired doom pieces, both highlights and masterpieces in the genre. Intense washes of cymbals paint the distorted guitar and bass these tunes that shift through many droning sections and never get old even in their intense runtimes. Strange sounds and creepy wind noises encircle the landscape, frightening in premise. The vocals are powerful and maniacal. Dopethrone concludes the album with another doom metal masterpiece, employing mysterious voice samples underneath the sludgy gloom of the instrumentals.

This is an intense album, that should be played LOUD. If it’s not loud, you won’t enjoy it. Regardless, it’s a masterpiece of its genre and shouldn’t be missed.

Heavy Lord is a Stoner Doom Metal band from Hellevoetsluis, Holland. I saw them once as support for Nebula. One of the guitar players use to play in a band called Warb. I saw these guys a couple of times and I'm searching for music from this band. So if anybody can help me with that, I would really appreciate.

Destroying DOOM sound, burning Matamps, ultra low Sabbath riffs and thundering drums. Heavy Lord plays ULTRA LOUD to salute the Gods of DOOM.

Next Saturday I'm Gonna Be Dragged To This!

This weekend we're going for a short holiday to Eindhoven (The Dutch #1 Rock City). I'm going to see My Dying Bride for the fifth time. Honoustly, two times seeing them is more than enough! But you know how it works with persistant females. My girl is a huge fan of MDB and she drags me all along her way.
This album is their second compilation album.

The European goth metal band My Dying Bride formed in June 1990. The four-piece first recorded the demo tape Towards the Sinister, and after the release of a 7" single for the French Listenable label, the group signed to Peaceville Records in 1991. My Dying Bride's first release was a 1991 EP, Symphonaire Infernus et Spera Empyrium. Debut album As the Flower Withers appeared the following year, and after touring Great Britain and Europe, the band released another EP, The Thrash of Naked Limbs. Third album Turn Loose the Swans coincided with another European tour, after which the band disappeared for a year.

In the meantime, Peaceville issued a box set titled The Stories as well as the three-EP compilation Trinity. My Dying Bride returned later in 1995 with The Angel and the Dark River, also available in a double pack with a live EP. The band's fourth album, Like Gods of the Sun, appeared in late 1996; 34.7888 Complete followed two years later, and My Dying Bride was issued in early 2001, along with The Dreadful Hours. After Songs of Darkness, Words of Light in 2004 and just prior to the release of A Line of Deathless Kings in 2006, drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels departed the group due to health concerns. He was followed by bassist Adrian Jackson in 2007, as well as session drummer John Bennett. My Dying Bride rounded out the group with Lena Abé (bass) and Dan Mullins (drums). They released An Ode to Woe in 2008, with For Lies I Sire arriving this year.
