Excavation is the name of a EP released by Aqua Nebula Oscillator. This EP contains four tracks of raw and dark Psychedelic Garage Rock. The songs Girl and Lost In Space already appeared on the album Under The Moon. But the versions on this EP are some different. They're more raw.
The tracks Echos and Bordel are as far I know previously unreleased. Excavation is for sure a recommendable EP for people who appreciate Aqua Nebula Oscillator. If you want to buy this EP, you have to hurry. There are only 500 copies. Enjoy!

Aqua Nebula Oscillator are a psychedelic acid punk group from the womb of Paris, France. Below the city, in the skulled caves of David Sphaer'Os (guitars, sitar, organ, synth, vocals and leader/Guru of Aqua Nebula Oscillator), dripping with trip visuals and artifacts from the other side, the band has made the catacombs of the 9th Arrondissment an immobile lair of time and space exploration. Since it's inception in 1999, as expected of any cult bearing a seeming philosophy of of turn on, tune in, fuck off, Aqua Nebula has cast a rotation of numerous talented black clad freak-out musicians, including multi-talented drummer/musician/filmmaker Juan Trip, vocalist synth and electronic machinist Shazzula, and prolific drummer Antoine Hadijoannou to name a few. Each versed in a repertoire of 60s psych garage, and early 70s space rock, ANO's music is an entrancing journey within that time frame, but set to a destination millions of years from now, or perhaps millions before. Hyper-fuzzed ragas, ear-piercing synth and wah-wah oscillations, atop voodoo rhythms, with a ferocity to blow up any garage band one might detect as influence or sacred, Aqua Nebula Oscillator exists today as the most mind melting psychedelic rock experience, and exists for us all as an auditory tab offering us waving liquid glimpses into the strange new worlds of light and darkness that exist in the center of the mind and beyond. Aqua Nebula Oscillator, "Excavation", is a 45rpm 12" released by Assommer. A glimpse of the bands heavy acid punk jams recorded in the caves in 2007, "Excavation" preserves the bands original raw recordings of Nuggets-worthy "Girl", and Wah-Fuzz jams like "Lost in Space". Limited to only 500 copies, housed in hand-screen printed black and gold poster sleeves, "Excavation" serves as a literal excavation of the band's long lost recordings, a classic fuzz record to be discovered for future generations of proper psych heads and freaks, but for now, a crushing rock and roll record sure to dig up and bring light to the lost primal nature within us.

Sitar And The Beast

This LP by the French band Aqua Nebula Oscillator is a collection of songs from their rich archives. This album sounds very different from their regular work. There is more room for the sitar and oriental sounds, which sound very good with heavy fuzz guitars, rolling drums and bizarre bass patterns. This album is a highlight in the Dark Psychedelic genre. It is certainly a recommended album! There are only 325 copies made of this LP, so hurry up to get it! Enjoy!

I can't say I know exactly what's going on with this but I know that it's totally amazing. As far as I can ascertain Aqua Nebula Oscillator have been around for aeons but they've completely avoided any of our Norman Records radars until now, which is a real shame as their stoned psychedelic jams are both totally fantastic and peculiarly timeless.. I can only assume from the title that these hand-picked archival selections date from the last twelve years but they sound like they should really be decades older than that. I mean at one tune's a total dead ringer for 'Interstellar Overdrive'-era Floyd, both in sound and outlook.. Another could almost be Fraction. Most are far more stoned and meandering than either of those comparisons might suggest. They crack out all the old psychedelic staples; Doorsy organ, wibbly theremin, sitars, pleasantly awkward East/West collisions, comedy 'boing-oing' noises like someone's just pinged Barbara Windsor's bra etc. etc. I don't think a review's even that necessary for this to be fair; just do a Google image search on the band name, check the photoshoots and you should have a pretty good idea of whether you need to partake or not. Or trust me when I say that if you've any appetite at all for the work of Sylvester Anfang (who're the modern act they most resemble and who've released this beauty via their Funeral Folk label) you should be absolutely ravenous at the prospect of this fine delicacy. Flying Mountains

Aqua Nebula Oscillator is a band from Paris, France. This band is an awesome Psychedelic Garage band with a lot of Space influences, think MC5 meets Hawkwind. Aqua Nebula Oscillator saw the light in 1999. Under The Moon Of is their second album release from 2008 and it contains a lot of great tracks like LSD Therapy, Beware, Girl and my favorite song Flying Mountains! This band treats you on great fuzz guitars, nice drum grooves and a pounding and rolling bass. But where I really felt for is the female singer Shazzula, her voice and appearance are really delightful. Too bad she has left Aqua Nebula Oscillator.
Under The Moon Of is a perfect balance of great Psychedelic Garage songs and mesmerizing Space tracks. Enjoy!

In his New Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis (1933) Freud wrote the following about the Id*, "It is the dark, inaccessible part of our personality, [...] We all approach the id with analogies: we call it a chaos, a cauldron full of seething excitations... It is filled with energy reaching it from the instincts, but it has no organisation, produces no collective will, but only a striving to bring about the satisfaction of the instinctual needs subject to the observance of the pleasure principle."

I was reminded of this by the latest AOTM, 'The Godlike Genius of Blue Cheer' and the passing lamentation that BC (oh yeah, long BC) had been relegated into the nether regions of the Rock Pantheon, the wrecking yard, garage. And I thought, I don't know, I think they survived there, their memory nurtured by crude shrines and lurching, seething songs of worship. And that's when I thought of Freud and the Id: garage is rock's Id - the demands of civilisation are ignored there, there is only instinctual energy and dark desires which brings me to...

Aqua Nebula Oscillator. A hefty chunk of Europe's prehistoric rockpainting is found on French cave walls and it has to be *nearly* true that Aqua Nebula Oscillator were raised in those very caves. This is *primitive* acid garage punk. Throughout the 80s I had secret hopes that the delights of Pebbles Vol.3 would find a medium who would channel their sounds into a timeless postpunk 'now'. Bands came and went but never quite delivered what I wanted - maybe Plasticland's "Office Skills" or "Mushroom Hill", a few years later moments of Wobble Jaggle Jiggle delivered the dirty, dark and mid-freak out freaking out sound that I was looking for but there was never a perfect acid garage punk album which was all killer until....

Aqua Nebula Oscillator nearly pulled it off last year. The "nearly" part? The joke of "Somebody In Your Nose" wears thin quickly (unfunnily enough Wobble Jaggle Jiggle had quickly annoying 'humourous' tracks too). But the rest... the videos on their Myspace look like they were recorded in a cave filled with peacock feathers (well, "Flying Mountain does") and the band sound like a hot woman cave decorated with peacock feathers. Dirty, psychedelic garage sounds with an oscillator set to attack.. like Gonn ('Blackout of Gretely') meets '73 Hawkwind.

And that's all you need to know: like Gonn ('Blackout of Gretely') meets '73 Hawkwind. Track by track rundown? Nah. They *all* obliterate your good sense and rationality and free up your dark'n'dangerous musical Id.
